chair yoga exercises for seniors
Posted in Uncategorized on 10/10/2009 10:34 pm by adminChair Yoga has become more popular in senior centers, but can also be found in nursing homes, physical rehabilitation units, day care centers for adults and some yoga studios. However, the vast majority of us attend a yoga class of the chair in a senior center.
You should consult your family doctor and obtain the "approval" before beginning any exercise program. If possible, visit or call the senior center, to inquire about their policies and guidelines. When is your first class is a good idea to get into the first row, so you can clearly see and hear your teacher yoga.
When you need extra advice, or have a particular health condition, you should talk to your teacher before or after class. Your Yoga professor giving advice and program changes in the class, but when you have questions that concern for their safety and health, you should call immediately. This does not is something that should be put on the "back burner".
Within the staff structure of the senior center, there are volunteers, paid staff, and management. They are very helpful. Seek help and you will find an abundance of it. If the business ran like this, everyone would be happy to clients.
You do not have to carry special equipment for a Chair Yoga class. Most senior centers have more than enough chairs to accommodate all. Some kinds of yoga mats President to use as well as chairs, but this is more the exception than the rule. If the facility uses mats, on the part of the class, you must remove your shoes.
Most senior centers have more hard tile floors with cement. In this case, you should wear shoes good tennis shoes or aerobic shoes. This will allow the shoes to hold the soil, to prevent possible accidents from slipping. It also gives your feet and joints some protection from the hard surface.
There is no need to purchase special clothing. You should wear comfortable clothes that do not restrict their movement. Do not wear anything tight around the waist. This bothers the stomach for some of the flexion or torsion.
You should never push or strain in a position yoga. This can cause a variety of injuries from very mild to severe. So stay in the "comfort zone". Nobody really knows how your body feels, except you.
If the class is large, will be held in a large room, a dining room. Expect some turmoil, with people coming and going of different activities, at the senior center. This is not ideal for meditation, but the physical rewards, and new friends to win, will make up for it.
